Home prices predicted to fall in multiple US cities: What about Chicago? (NEXSTAR) — After two years of surging home prices and mortgage rates, some relief could be coming to the real estate market in 2024, according to a new report.Across the U.S., Realtor.com predicts home prices will fall 1.7% next year, though larger drops are anticipated in 21 of the country’s largest metro areas the real estate firm analyzed in its forecast.Austin, Texas, could see the steepest decline, with a 12.2% drop expected. Three other cities in the Lone Star State could see falling home prices, including San Antonio, Dallas and Houston. Others expected to see prices drop include Denver, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and St. Louis. But what about Chicago? Ramsey County debuts pilot program offering residents free naloxone Ramsey County Public Health on Monday announced the launch of a pilot program offering two free doses of the drug naloxone to residents.Naloxone, which is more commonly known by its trade name Narcan, is designed to reverse the deadly effects of an opioid overdose.Residents can fill out a form on the county’s website to receive a kit containing two doses of naloxone nasal spray, sanitary breathing barriers, gloves and instructions on how to use them, according to a county news release. The kits, which are funded by Minnesota’s settlements with opioid companies, will be mailed to residents’ homes.“If you, your family or friends or someone you know could benefit from having naloxone on hand, please order a kit today,” Public Health Director Sara Hollie said in the news release.The county has a limited supply of the kits, so Hollie asked that residents order the kits only if they believe they are likely to encounter an overdose.“We want to make sure individuals and communit...

Pasadena shuts down outdoor dining for Rose Parade The 2024 Rose Parade is just three weeks away and preparations for the participating floats are well underway. Hundreds of volunteers will spend the next month hammering, gluing, and painting 40 elaborate floats. Part of the preparation also means temporarily suspending outdoor dining along Colorado Boulevard. Several restaurants along the parade’s route are being forced to shut down their outdoor dining by this Thursday to prepare for the massive event. “So the businesses along the parade route that have the outdoor dining are asked to remove all of the equipment by December 15,” said Lisa Dederian, City of Pasadena, Public Information Officer. After removing the pavilions, the City will clean the sidewalks and stripe the parade walk. “The float drivers actually look at stripes along Colorado Boulevard and that’s their guide for how to navigate throughout the parade route,” Dederian said. “We’re getting great support especially in the playhouse village area wher...
