Abrams, Nats squeeze past Cubs for 2nd straight night, 2-1 WASHINGTON (AP) — Jake Irvin had dozen of relatives and friends fly in from his native Minnesota to witness his major league debut for the Washington Nationals — and then he hit the “O” on the back of Nico Hoerner’s jersey with the first pitch of his career.“I gotta imagine I’m one of few to do that, right?” Irvin said. “Just laugh it off, man. Next hitter.”Things improved significantly from there for the 26-year-old right-hander, who held the Chicago Cubs’ potent lineup to two singles over 4 1/3 innings. Four Washington relievers gave up four singles the rest of the way, and the Nationals turned four double plays to beat the Cubs 2-1 on a damp and unseasonably chilly Wednesday night.“This is something you dream of from the day you pick up a baseball,” Irvin said. “I’m on top of the world and props to the team, man. Guys played great behind me.”CJ Abrams had a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning for the second consecutive game for the Nationals, and ...

Gray wolf restoration and management plan near completion In a statement, he wrote in part: Wyoming is opposed to the 10(j) population of wolves in Colorado for a variety of reasons. Our current wolf management plan is working, and it works because it is designed to manage wolves in biologically and socially suitable habitats and to keep wolves out of areas of the state w...

Lucas: Donald Trump, Hunter Biden face wrath of scorned women Hell hath no fury like a stripper scorned.Cross them and you just might end up in court, like Hunter Biden and Donald Trump. All these men had to do was treat the two women — Lunden Roberts and Stormy Daniels — with a little respect and things might have turned out differently. But they didn’t.So, the strippers dragged both men into court, forcing them to face a judge — and maybe a jury — for their disdainful behavior toward them.Who would have thought that Hunter Biden and Donald Trump would have so much in common as far as women are concerned?Trump never should have called porn star Stormy Daniels “horseface.” She is the woman with whom he is alleged to have had an affair with — which he denies. What woman would not have fire in her eyes after such a gross insult? A man would have punched him out.Now she will testify against him in the politically charged trial launched by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, charging that Trump falsified business records over $130,000 in ...

What’s next after “magic mushrooms – LSD?While the legal cannabis industry in Massachusetts is an economic success story in general, with dispensaries producing billions in revenue for the state, the unintended consequences are nothing short of horrifying.Earlier this week, four students at the Henderson Inclusion School in Boston were hospitalized for eating pot-infused edibles, according to school officials. As the Herald reported, Head of School Stephanie Sibley said in a letter to families that the middle-school students “ingested what appeared to be a cannabis-infused chocolate edible,” on Tuesday.Boston Police spokesman Sgt. They came, they posed, they conquered style at the MET Gala

They came, they posed, they conquered style at the MET Gala With all due respect to The Academy Awards, the place where celebrities show up every year with the most dramatic career-changing fashion statements is New York’s  Met Gala. There, on the red carpeted steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Vogue’s Anna Wintour holds court and welcomes attendees to the black-tie fundraising event for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. And the goal isn’t to necessarily to look stunning, so much as it is to stun, to present an artistic statement, and of course, to get as much attention as possible. This all coincides with a different theme each year, and this year’s was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Lagerfeld, the late designer who worked for luxury brands including Patou, Chloé, Balmain, Fendi, Chanel, as well as his own label, was a controversial choice this year. After decades of remarks considered racist, homophobic, and intolerant of women’s bodies and dismissive of sexual assault, Lagerfeld’s legacy had alienated a s...

Bakst: EPA targets Americans’ ability to choose their cars

Bakst: EPA targets Americans’ ability to choose their cars The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed tailpipe emission regulations for new cars, making it more difficult for Americans to buy gas-powered vehicles. The rule is part of an effort to transform how we live our daily lives, from how we get around town to what appliances we use in our kitchen, ostensibly to address climate change. The agency has stated that the rule could mean as much as 67% of all new cars sold in the country will be electric vehicles by 2032. To provide some context, despite receiving massive subsidies, EVs accounted for just 5.8% of all new vehicle sales in 2022. Less than 1% of all registered vehicles in 2021 were EVs.But through policies such as the EPA tailpipe rule and massive spending to entice EV production and purchase, the federal government is trying to fundamentally change the vehicle fleet, regardless of what consumers want. The end goal is to get rid of gas-powered vehicles, following in the footsteps of California, which is banning the sale of...
